Wine Center of Crete – Wine tasting in Chania, Crete
Since 2013, Miden Agan Premium Wine Shop in the heart of Chania has been home to the Wine Center of Crete, a space created to showcase the richness of Cretan wines. The founders of Miden Agan created this unique venue with a clear goal: to bring attention to Crete’s native grape varieties and share the outstanding wines they produce. It has since evolved into a reference point for anyone wishing to discover the soul of Cretan wine.
Here, visitors can participate in carefully curated wine-tasting experiences spanning Cretan terroir, emphasising native grape varietals such as Vidiano, Liatiko, Kotsifali, Mandilari, and others. Experienced wine professionals design each tasting to combine enjoyment with knowledge, helping guests learn how to present, open, and serve wine professionally while appreciating its aromas, texture, and balance.
This journey gives guests insight into the unique microclimates, soils, and winemaking techniques that define Chania Crete wineries and shape the island’s wine identity. You will learn about the terroir of each region, the distinct character of each wine variety, and the traditions that make Cretan wine so unique.
In addition to tastings, the Wine Center of Crete provides comprehensive and up-to-date information about all the organised open wineries across the island. You’ll receive detailed guidance on locations, suggested routes, opening hours, visitor facilities, wine labels, local varietals, and more, making it the perfect starting point for your wine adventure in Crete.

a month agoWe had a wine tasting here and it was so informative. The lady in the shop was able to walk us through each glass, and explained how to get the most from the tasting. She also had a huge amount of knowledge about Cretan wines and the local history of wine making. It was a great experience and I highly recommend!

2 months agoWe ended up in Crete unexpectedly when our cruise ship had to change course from Mykonos and we’re so glad it did! Maria was incredibly kind and welcoming. Although she initially wasn’t offering tastings, she graciously invited us to try some of her wines and spent time sharing her knowledge with us. It was a relaxed, authentic experience. So much more personal than a typical tour. The wines were delicious, and the warmth of the visit made it one of the most memorable parts of our trip. HIGHLY recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

a month agoNo worth to do! Much more expensive than the value to do... Only expensive one is operated. I don't know why she serve cheap wine so much even though it is tasting... It would be better to serve better wine for tasting in accordance with the price. The host likes showing off.. Even though she gave me wrong info about blending of wine, she didn't fix it. She is also rude! She shouldn't have controlled customer. It was the Worst memory in Chania.

a month agoWe were there for wine and cheese tasting for 2 hours. The price was 66€ for 2 persons and it was definitely worth it. She taught us how to properly taste wines and how to know which wine is the right one for your food! The cheeses were tasty

3 months agoWe walked into the store and were immediately greeted by the owner. We did not sign up for any tasting but she agreed to give us a mini tasting of four wines that took roughly an hour. She was very helpful and so knowledgeable of the wines of Crete. I highly recommend doing a wine tasting or buying a bottle from her!
